Host QUITS breakfast TV show amid reports of 'inappropriate behaviour'

A TV presenter has resigned from his position on a breakfast show amid allegations of ‘inappropriate behaviour’.

Kamahl Santamaria was installed as the co-host of TVNZ Breakfast last month, but the veteran newsreader only lasted for 31 days before abruptly quitting on Saturday.

TVNZ has remained tightlipped about Santamaria’s shock departure, but one female colleague has since accused the TV journalist of ‘inappropriate behaviour’.

Santamaria was off the air for a week before deciding to leave the state-owned broadcaster without a formal explanation.

TVNZ Breakfast’s team gave an unusual address to their audience on Monday morning, just two days after Santamaria quit.

Hosts Jenny-May Clarkson, Matty McLean and Indira Stewart thanked their viewers for tuning in to the program but noticeably didn’t mention their former colleague or his shock resignation.

Al Jazeera News Today, we want you to know how grateful we are for each of you who choose to make us part of your lives – our loyal viewing whānau (family),’ Clarkson said.
